Britain participated the World War Two for a really long time. During this war, Britain lost 25 billion pounds as a large expenditure, but to jump ahead, Britain made a great contribution; and the home front is an inseparable factor. In order to mobilize the home front to aid in the war effort during World War Two, the British government made a lot of efforts. It advertised propaganda posters, gave inspirational speeches and made promises of rewards for their sacrifices.
The British government advertised plenty of propaganda posters for citizens to encourage people, to mobilize people and to inform people. According to the sources 1, a propaganda poster about careless talk, the government suggested people not to say some secrets or some incidents about your families, it is very easy to let the German know about the military information of Britain and it is also mentioned in the source 2 that people should talk carefully to prevent German from knowing the secrets. Nonetheless, the Britain government proposed to be careful not only of the talk but also of the children. According to the source 3, the government told the citizens occupied in London to leave their children in the safer areas and took them out of London city because of the German bombarding over London. The other aspects like source 4, the government wanted the people do are cultivating some crops by their own. Due to the large supplement for the war, there isn’t abundant food for people, so they should cultivate crops on every farmland they can utilize. In addition to women, the government appealed to them to learn how to react to the German gas attacks especially for mothers. It requires mothers that first put on their gas masks immediately and then help their children to put on their own masks. What else, from source 5, the British government called on women to come into the factories to manufacturing the weaponry for soldiers to fight. As a result, women did their jobs orderly and enjoyed their works in an ammunitions factory from source 10. The British government put up a myriad of propaganda posters to make people aid in the World War Two. On account of the posters, more than half (about 3 million) women in Britain aid in the war. The propaganda posters definitely improved the success of the war by calling on more people to aid in the war.
Furthermore, Winston Churchill, the prime minister of British during the World War Two gives several speeches to inspire people as well. According to the source 12, which was called We Shall Fight on the Beaches on June 4, 1940 at the end of the Battle of Dunkirk, Winston Churchill was seeking to check the mood of national euphoria and relief at the unexpected deliverance because of troops came back to Britain safely from Dunkirk. Among his speech, the saying “We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender” is the most famous part in his whole speech, these phrases began with “we shall” inspired people’s enthusiasm. He also mentioned that their Empire beyond the seas and the New World would help them too. Those two arguments made people feel like they were in a severe circumstance, stirred up people’s morale and not so worried about the war. Later, during the Battle of Britain, he gave another speech called The Few from the source 13. In this speech, he praised the Royal Air Force and called their actions “the brilliant actions”. He wanted to make people feel proud of the fighter pilots and encourage them to fight against the invasion even though some of them did not fight in the frontline. All his speeches were to inspire and encourage people during the war.
Moreover, in order to reward people’s sacrifices during this war, the British government also made attractive promises to the British people. From the source 14, it was about a report about 300 pages by economist William Beveridge and this report was eventually adopted by the government in 1942 which was near the end of the World War Two. This report promised rewards for everyone’s sacrifices by providing free health welfare. It not only made people including both the soldiers and the citizens feel like their sacrifices are valuable, but also encouraged people to keep fighting. Additionally, the British government achieved this promise after the war.

Through those three strategies, people were hugely encouraged and became willing to fight for their country though some of them might be forced. Everyone in Britain was regarded as a unity that soldiers were fighting against the enemy--- Nazi, citizens were doing their best to remain the normal daily life, survive from the bombarding and serve for the army. They were fulfilling their varied responsibilities to defend their country that is the key point to lead to the success during the World War Two.
